Featuring pieces choreographed by its Resident Choreographer, Zaini Mohd Tahir, alumni choreographers, and also guest choreographer Jeffrey Tan from the Singapore Dance Theatre, the Annual Concert of the NUS Dance Ensemble this year will explore the depth of the human emotions of joy, laughter, sorrow, and peace. Works offered fuse modern, ballet and jazz dance influences with ethnic elements to create a visual spectacle of dance and music combining colour, rhythm of on-going movement and texture. Dynamic dancers will transport audiences to a world of physical and spiritual experience as fluid bodies intertwine, twirl, and delve into the recesses of the soul, expressing emptiness, exhilaration and ecstasy. THE NEXT WAVE was inaugurated in 1996, exploding into a highly successful series of annual dance concerts displaying innovative and original choreography that synthesizes modern techniques and ethnic spirit to evolve unique dance forms.
