Dubai
Intercontinental emerged as the best Dubai Team at the Gulf
Food. Despite all the new properties in town
the
intercontinental still came up as number 1 in Dubai, the
Hotel
Intercontinental Dubai team won 16 Gold, 6 silver and 15
bronze medals and 18 certificates of merit. The Salon
Culinaire this year had almost 600 entries from UAE, Oman,
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Hungary. Chef Uwe Micheel Dubai's
Executive Chef said
we tried to repeat our great result from
the last salon culinaire,99 but the team is very proud that we
improved our result. Chef Uwe is specially proud that we were
so strong in live cooking events where the taste is the most
important criteria, Dubai Intercontinental Team won 12 Gold
Medals in the different live cooking events. Chef Uwe added
after all the taste of the food is still the most important
and that is what the training in the hotel emphasis most on.
Dr. Seigfried Schaber the President of the WACS, the
World Chefs Association praised the high standard of this
year's
Salon Culinaire.
The
Gold medal winners:
Anslem
Perera, Ceprian Gomes and De Silva Diyan Manjula each won
three gold medals and emerged as the most successful live
cooking team.
Dilum
Udugamasuriya, Dominic Gomes and Mohammed Suhaib Khan each won
a Gold medal in the Sadia Chicken Live Cooking Class.
Naser
Pishahang won a gold medal in live New Zealand Butchery
competition.
Rabah
Samra Saleem won a Gold in Arabic Fest
Rattapoom
Ming Saisudjai and Ronald D'Souza Both won Gold in live Ice
Carving Competition.
This
years judges team headed by the world president where Chef
Otto Weibel President of the Singapore Chefs association, Kai
Wagner secretary general of the Malaysian chef's association,
Scott Webster and Markus Gerber from Australia. Norbert Girnth
well known face with Dubai Chef's from Germany and Karlheinz
Haase the team captain of a very successful German national
team, Heinz Kohler from Saudi Arabia and the chocolate expert
from France Mr
Phillipe Urraca. All of them were all praises about the
improved standards of Dubai Salon Culinaire and they are all
looking forward for the next competition.
