Tourism

A spectacular landmark in the capital is the magnificent new mosque Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah at Lebuhraya Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong. It adds a new dimension to Brunei and to the whole region as one of the grandest monuments of Islam. It is the brainchild of His Majesty with every detail meticulously rendered revealing the true depths of His Majesty's conviction.

 Brunei village, in an old-style, has been recreated at Kampong Parit Mini Garden, 26 miles from the capital. In a tropical forest clearing, visitors can explore 20 traditional-style stilt houses consrtucted from bamboo, nipah palm and bark. In stark contrast, about 30 minutes from town, the lights of the Crystal Arch and Jerudong Park Playground attract visitors to a nightly wonderland of fantasy rides, amusements and delicious food in fragrant, landscaped garden setting.

Restaurants and fast-food centres in Brunei, cater to a wide range of tastes. Fresh fruit, vegetables and authentic local cuisine can be obtained at the Tamu night market, in the centre of town. The market takes on a special atmosphere when crowds come to shop and eat in the evening.
